Wedding Day -
Short Story
APRIL, 2020
The paint dried to be the colour of blood and over top it she painted a beautiful white dress. This had been her wedding day, a day of blood and anguish. The day of the accident, the day she lost her husband. Tears fell on the canvas, smudging the white lines and giving more beauty to the masterpiece. She was only 21 when it all happened, the happiest and saddest day of her life.
It was splendid, white drapes and red carnations to match the bride and groom. She walked through the flower arch to see him wearing a deep red suit. When she reached the pedestal where he stood she looked up into his chocolate eyes. He looked overjoyed to be here with her and she felt the same. This would be the memory of their lifetime.
The vows were said and the day wrapped up smoothly with the small collection of guests paying their respects. Then it was time to leave and it all went wrong.
She followed her husband into the black Mercedes Benz and he pulled away from the curb. She was still smiling. It happened in a rush, they weren't on the street for more than five minutes when another car collided at high impact with the driver's side of the car. Sirens blare as they sit in a sea of blood...
