Puzzle Pieces
FEBRUARY, 2019
There are all sorts of pieces in a puzzle.
Different shapes, sizes, colours, and patterns. We try to sort them out and categorize them based upon these traits. Sometimes one may look like an edge piece when it’s not. Perhaps you find a piece that doesn’t quite fit in but you still try to find a place for it. It might not be very small but it doesn’t fit with the large pieces either. It might be half green and half blue.
Which pile do you place it in then?
There are many options but maybe you choose to create an entirely new pile. However what if that piece is the only one of its kind? You might make the decision to simply lump it in with the other pieces that are a primarily green or blue.
Now what if it also has a few spots of orange speckling the blue and green? Does it still go into a pile of other blue and green pieces or do you create a pile for green and blue pieces with orange spots?
Then you’ve got more pieces with larger amounts of orange. You could make a new pile, change the place of that piece with orange specks, or even ignore the orange altogether to focus on the green and blue.
My point is that one could spend hours just sorting out all the different pieces into their determined categories.
The only right way I see to categorize them is to separate them all individually because each one is unique.
With that being said, in the end each and every piece also has a place where it fits and together the pieces all form a singular whole.
None are the same but they all have their place in the picture that makes up their purpose.
